Markfield was established in 1979 by parents of disabled children, whose vision was to create an inclusive place for disabled and non-disabled children to play. Markfield became a charity and limited company in 1983.
However, the 7th March 1986 marks a six-year period of research, activity, fund raising and development, when the project was officially opened by Her Royal Highness Princess of Wales.
That marked the beginning of a meaningful journey to enrich the lives of children, adults, and their families through the opportunities created by Markfield – a commitment that has continued with dedication and impact for over 40 years.
Although much has changed over the years, we have remained a constant presence in the lives of Haringey’s disabled community. Some of our service users still fondly remember the day Lady Diana visited Markfield.
To mark this special occasion, we are delighted to invite you to join us
on the 14th of March 2026 for a special ‘Royal’ Family Club event,
taking place from 11:30am to 2:30pm.
You can download the flyer here.
