On Wednesday the 19th May 2023 we played host to a team of 25 volunteers from Amazon who came to help us with maintenance and tidying up the adventure playground.
They were a great bunch of people, very keen to work and they got so much done, but also enjoyed themselves. Luckily the weather was on our side.
Here is some of what they did….
- Cleared up all the wood that had been donated to us, organised it and stored it all away
- Painted parts of the structure and the fence
- Cut down lots of weeds
- Cleared behind the storage containers
- Weeded and cleared the vegetable patch
- Cleared the dead vegetation from the back of the playground and removed the fencing
- Weeded the front of the building and access ramp
- Also general tidying up
They told us this was the best volunteering day out their team had done so far. And we are still amazed at the amount of work done.
All the volunteers were very interested in the amazing work we do at Markfield and they (and Amazon) want to come back and do it again!
Everyone at Markfield is very grateful to the team, of course! We always welcome anyone who wishes to give us a helping hand.
