Mikayla started attending Markfield summer play scheme in 2016 and has been attending a weekly Fire Club since. Initially, she was unsure of what she could do at Markfield, but very quickly she became a very popular member in all groups she attends. She won many votes for the Jack Petchey Award from Fire Club members as she is such a fun young person to have on the club, dancing and singing to music every week while involving all others to join in. She also enjoys cooking activities and prepares snacks, which everyone appreciates.

The Jack Petchey Achievement Award scheme is a reward and recognition initiative which enables schools and youth organisations to celebrate the achievements of their young people as well as receive additional funding.

“We do it because we want to help young people raise their aspirations, believe in themselves and make a contribution to their society” said Sir Jack Petchey CBE.
